Functional Medicine — Feel Your Best

Your Labs Look "Normal." But You Don't Feel Normal.

Conventional medicine sees the tip of the iceberg. Dr. Katherine Robb-Ramirez is a Board Certified MD trained to go beneath the surface and uncover the hidden metabolic, hormonal, and cellular roots of what's keeping you stuck.

Advanced laboratory testing

Board Certified MD — not a PA or NP

Full prescriptive capability and the ability to perform procedures means a truly complete treatment plan.

Is This You?

  • Dragging through the day, dependent on caffeine just to function
  • Weight that won't budge no matter what you try
  • Brain fog, poor focus, or mood swings that affect your daily life
  • Lab results that come back "normal" — but you still feel anything but
  • Chronic inflammation, joint pain, or autoimmune flares
  • Non-restorative sleep, hormonal shifts, or persistent fatigue
  • Gas, bloating, constipation or loose stools
  • Cramping and heartburn
  • Gastrointestinal discomfort that won't resolve
  • Confused by all of the diets out there, or feel like you have tried them all and still can't burn the weight
  • You want to live a long and healthy life, but your doctor just wants to prescribe medications without addressing the underlying problems. You worry about the side effects of your medications, and want to maximize your health and recovery naturally

If you've been told everything is fine — but you know it isn't — you're in the right place. We specialize in finding what standard medicine misses.

We're All Sailing on the Titanic

What Your PCP Can See

  • Standard blood panels: CBC, metabolic panel, thyroid TSH
  • Basic cholesterol (LDL, HDL, triglycerides)
  • Fasting glucose or HbA1c
  • Basic hormone panels like thyroid, testosterone, estrogen or progesterone
  • Symptoms that match a diagnosis code
  • He tells you you are normal for your age, but you want to extend your age, not hit the common downhill slide after menopause or andropause
  • He tells you it is all fine, but you feel like you are dragging, and you worry about bone loss, muscle loss, wrinkled skin, and memory loss

What We Can See Beneath the Surface

  • How your mitochondria are actually functioning
  • Your true cardiovascular risk — far beyond standard cholesterol
  • Toxic load, heavy metals, and your body's detoxification capacity
  • MTHFR genetic variant abnormalities and other genetic variants affecting metabolism
  • Gut microbiome integrity and systemic inflammation
  • Hormonal cascades and intracellular metabolic dysfunction

Natural regenerative medicine approach

Built Around Regeneration, Not Management

Functional medicine's goal isn't to add medications or dozens of supplements indefinitely — it's to restore your body's natural functions so you need less intervention over time, not more.

Gut protocols typically run 3–6 months, then you maintain with a good diet. Hormone balancing is monitored and adjusted. Supplements step down as your biology recovers.

Hormone balancing to prevent muscle loss and debility, bone loss leading to osteoporosis, loss of collagen resulting in skin aging, and loss of brain neurons resulting in dementia.

Peptides, PRP, and exosomes extend this principle to cellular repair — working with your own biology rather than around it.

Herbal, Dietary & Lifestyle First

We want to use as few medications as possible. Many interventions — nutrition, targeted supplements, detox protocols — are designed to give your body a temporary boost. Gut protocols typically run 3–6 months. Some supplements may be lifelong. Most others are designed to rehabilitate and then step down.

Peptides & PRP — Advanced Regenerative Tools

Peptides are an incredible tool for healing. We're far more interested in addressing root causes than masking symptoms — and peptides support deep internal healing at the cellular level. PRP extends the same principle to tissue repair and regeneration.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from what my PCP does?

Many people love and trust their primary care doctors — and in fact, you are required to maintain your PCP. Dr. Robb-Ramirez does not function as a PCP. Your primary care physician must follow you for many of your long-term medication management and for regular cancer screenings. But the roles are different.

Your PCP's role is to manage symptoms and manage medicines. Our role is to get to the root of the problem and to begin to heal from the inside out — to reduce your medication load, or even help you taper off from medications by correcting your internal metabolic and hormonal balance.

The PCP is working with the tools that the insurance company approves, and they can't go beyond that. The tools available to functional medicine are far more detailed. We can see how your mitochondria function, what your toxic load is, what your true cardiovascular risk is, and what you can actually do about it besides taking statins.

How long before I feel a difference?

Many patients notice meaningful change within the first few weeks. Deeper healing — hormonal rebalancing, gut rehabilitation, cellular restoration — typically unfolds over 3–6 months.

Do I have to do all the labs?

No. Testing is chosen based on your symptoms, health history, goals, and what prior workups have already covered.

What does "cash-pay" mean for my wallet?

Most patients invest between $1,500 to $5,000 over the first 3 to 5 months, while they are making the most critical steps in evaluation and the start of their health journey. Maintenance is much less, depending on your residual needs and goals. Many costs are FSA/HSA eligible.

Will you work with my existing doctors?

Yes. In fact, you are required to maintain your relationship with your primary care doctors. In many cases, the lab and radiology work done by your PCP can be covered by insurance, lessening your costs.
